Work Out World - Membership Review
My name is Laura Guido it is March 29th 2017 I stopped in to Work Out World in Edison this morning to rejoin my contract that ended this past January. I left it due to the fact that I was very upset and I was treated terrible i've been a loyal member for six and a half years I always loved Work Out World and brought many other members to join .
During this past year I noticed that my payment went up from $30 to over $90 they were taking out of my bank when I tried to find out why no one would help me when I tried to cancel they said there was a fee OF A 100 dollars so I felt lied and betrayed and was never treated so poorly the manager her name is Kelly treated me awful it was heartbreaking after being a member for six and a half years I had to leave the place that I loved . I decided to rejoin I went in this morning and sat with a girl named Samantha for 45 minutes I asked her to thoroughly go over everything with me all fees I told her I don't want any surprises I told her to be honest with me I did not want to go through the same thing again lies and crookedness she promised it would be no surprises she said there would be a $59 one time registration fee they would take a fee of $21 per month out of my bank and then three months they would be a $49 fee for maintenance nothing else I was fine I signed everything yeah after I paid $60 cash I was leaving I was already out in the mall and Kelly the manager ran after me and said oh we forgot to tell you there is also an extra $50 fee due to the fact that I rejoined before 6 months I got so upset first of all I sat there for 45 minutes with the other girl Samantha she promised me there was no other fees for someone to run after me in a hallway seems shady and illegal this fee is not stated on any of my paperwork that I have signed I immediately got upset and told them I want my $60 registration fee back I feel like I am being lied to again set up after being a loyal customer it is unimaginable she said she would not give me my money back I called the police so I would have a report they have a video of the manager Kelly admitting they never told me about the extra Re enrollment fee and that it is not printed anywhere on any of the paperwork that I have signed this morning I was shaking and floored this can't be true that they are just tricking people and robbing people you have a great classes and great instructors why are you doing this to people why are you treating people like this after what was done to me last time here I was willing to come back I think I should have been treated a little special not lied to and Rob from again I am canceling my registration and I want my $60 back immediately I hope I don't have to take legal action I'm in business I would never ever lie to somebody or trick them or run from them again this truly breaks my heart I thought I would be coming to work out world forever it is heartbreaking that I can't exercise at the gym or trust them anymore

If I could give this negative 5 stars I would. Let's first talk about how I moved to a different city because I lost my job (this city was no where near any work out world) and begged them to release my contract especially because I would have to drive over an hour to the gym from where i was now living.
I explained that I took a pay cut due to my new job and finally got someone to agree to at least lower my membership to the basic 19.99 rate- (which is still *** ridiculous because I never went back to work out world after I moved. Who the *** is going to drive over an hour to the gym? not me. if they cared about me at all, they should have released my contract after I provided proof that I now work & live over an hour from any location) Then, a couple months went by and I continued to email because the rate still wasn't reflected on my credit card.
I finally get a response from someone who tells me they sent me a form to fill out to lower my membership rate and because i didn't fill out the form then there is nothing they can do. Well I never received an attachment/form/anything at all, ever. I even told them I would forward the email from the other person I was working with so they could see there was no attachment or form. But of course, no response.
So then, its almost a year and my contract is almost up. I go online to cancel my membership which I signed up for on May 3rd. They tell me that my membership is cancelled effective May 31st and I have to pay a 13th month. HOW THE *** do I have to pay a 13th month when I have a 1 year contract.
Last time I checked there were 12 months in a year. I then email them back asking how this is logical and how they can get away with screwing people so hard. I have never been so frustrated/pissed/disappointed in a company in my life. Honestly, work out world is the worst company & customer service I have ever dealt with.
I have never been so mistreated by a company before. Normally companies care about their consumers but work out world just finds ways to screw their members as hard as they possibly can, with no remorse. The "family-run" business should be ashamed of themselves at the way they treat members/customers and how they are running this business. It is an absolute disgrace to intentionally screw people.
If they continue at this rate, they'll be out of business in 10 years because every person that gets screwed is going to tell a friend, who will tell another friend. I wish I had listened to other people and read reviews before signing up!! They could care less about your livelihood or financial issues- only that they get your money in their pocket, no matter how hard they *** you in the process.
And also as an FYI, I never write reviews about companies because I just never care enough. This is the first time I have had major issues like this and felt other people should be aware of this terrible business before picking a gym.

Work Out World - Sanitary Conditions Review

On November 30th, 2016 I met with a lady at the Wall WOW and informed her of my intentions to sign up for 1 of 3 offered products. I asked for the basic plan of $99.00 initiation fee, $9.99 monthly fee and $59.00 annual fee basic plan.
I confirmed the plan and price twice. I specifically remember the conversation and there was no misunderstanding. Unfortunately, on 12/2/2016 I noticed a direct withdrawal from my account of $32.09, not the $9.99 monthly price I thought I was agreeing to. I believe this error was intentional after reading many reviews online about shady business practices.
As a result, on 12/2/2016 I dropped off a signed cancellation letter to the Wall, NJ location as stipulated in the contract item #2 on page 1 of the contract. I also sent a letter certified with return receipt as stated in item #1 on page 1 of the attached contract. My reason for this thoroughness is because of my distrust in the company after reading all the reviews online. On December 6th I was notified in email by their support team that, " We are processing your 3 day cancellation request, and the membership has been terminated immediately.
Please allow up to 30 business days for the cancellation to be processed. As of 12/15 It is now 48 business days and I've still not received a check. Why can they withdraw my money so fast but take so long for a refund. It's BS and I'm pissed.
I will never use WOW. Not to mention I did work out there once and thought the gym was messy and employees were unprofessional.

I have been a member of wow cromwell for 7 years and never have had any issues, actually loved the gym! I go really early to get my workout done with not many people there.
There is this one couple who leaves their duffle bags on a bunch of machines claiming them. For their entire time they are there! As it is there are not many machines. Today, I go to the squat bar to use it, and was confronted by one of the people who leaves their stuff all over the place and said she was using the bar.
Mind you, she was nowhere near it, so I go to use the one next to it, and she says her boyfriend is using that one. I go do a couple exercises and come back and they are still going back and forth from different machines claiming them all. 45 minutes later I still was not able to use the bar because they were "still using it". Mind you their luggage was all over 2 other machines I needed to use.
While this is not an issue with wow I had, they should keep an eye out on the floor more and be the ones to tell members they cannot put their stuff on equipment the entire time they are there.
That's what locker rooms are for. Paying members should not have to feel uncomfortable to workout
