WOW is using unfair business practices!

I am having similar issues with WOW...I cannot reach them other than emails. I filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau. Perhaps you should. If BBB gets enough complaints they will do something.

Just got told yesterday after signing up for the platinum pkg. that you could bring a friend,family member and etc. to the gym been taking my son with me and was told no more children allowed but he would have to get his own membership what the *** is that they want more money my son has been going for a while now and is very upset he is 14 and works out with me. I should have been informed about this before i joined and i would of gotten his own membership from the beginning. I think the massachusetts wow in fall river is a rip off and is known for doing this to people. It is not the point of the money but the point in general. My cousin joined also and has been taking his son and was told at the door yesterday he could not come into the gym with his son and he is 15 using his platinum membership. "What the *** is that." A rip off if you ask me. I think an Attorney or News station should be notified on this situation because trying to get a hold of a person from the Corporate Office is impossible email only. Fishy,Shady if you ask me. More people should come out and let everyone know what is going on. Yeah Better Business Bureau and Attorney General too!

Interesting that you say that about the manager sounding high. There are a few WOW's managed in Minnesota by a guy who fleed from New Jersey because of arrest warrants. There has been suspicion of drug deals at several WOW locations. Exactly why I chose Anytime Fitness.

My husband and I have had the same problem with the WOW of Fall River, MA. I signed the cancellation paper in October of 2008, and continue to receive harassing phone calls at least 3x a day by some collection agency. We have faxed WOW and the collection agency the cancellation paper numerous times, and they still continue to harass us.

There is also another gym by the name WOW in NJ, but it is not associated with WOW of mass! Different company entirely! 

 

WOW of mass is a bunch of thieves, and are the worst around.  

 

Do NOT join that dump, check out Planet Fitness which is all over for only 9 bucks a month, or for only 19. you get memberships to all their gyms with extras, no games, no lies, easy going, clean, friendly, straight forward, etc.. what a difference, and it's worth the extra 5 minutes drive away from WOW.  

 

PF is clean, and has plenty of NEW equipment. 

 

WOW is a bunch of thieving lyers, and the attorney general should shut them down NOW!  

 

Shut down WOW NOW! ROW!! RIP OFF WORLD! And do NOT believe their lies about the new fees and adjusting contract they are trying to get you to "resign" to keep your old price structure! It's a LIE. Do NOT sign anything, your old contract is grandfathered! They can NOT change it unless they can dupe you into signing a new one! Don't fall for another one of their scams! They have to honor your ORIGINAL contract! 

 

They are coporate THIEVES! Why no one shuts them down is amazing! The complaints on them at the BBB must be miles long, and they are straight out thieves who use every bait and switch hustle and lie in the scammers book! Their headquarters should be in Nigeria! The place smells to boot!

It has been a challenge to get in touch with the manager at the WOW in Fall River, Massachusetts. I called THREE TIMES yesterday between 1PM and 5PM, being told that my message would be passed on to the manager "as soon as he was done helping his current customer." I highly doubt that he was so incredibly busy that he did not have five minutes to speak to me.  

 

I recently branched from my parents' account into my own, and my rate was supposed to be lowered to $19.99/month and be automatically debited from my bank account. September 1st, I find that they actually took almost $60! 

 

The manager finally called me back at 7:30PM (claiming that he was "really busy" all day long), and he was nothing but rude to me. We figured out that my father and my brother were actually being charged to my account, and my mom's account was not charged at all! Instead of just offering to fax paperwork over to ABC for reimbursement and fix the problem in the computer, he had the audacity to ask me if my parents and I are close enough that my mom could just pay me the $40 every month! The whole reason I switched to my own account is for billing purposes since I don't live at home anymore! What a moron. 

 

To make matters worse, he tells me that both my mother and I will need to come in to see him with all of our financial information to sort things out. WE WERE NOT THE ONES WHO SCREWED UP! He told me that it is more convenient for us to come to him than for him to make an effort to contact us - I told him that, as a manager, sometimes he needs to put his customers' schedules first and not just think about himself. When I told him that my mother wanted to speak to him as well and hear everything from his mouth, he told me that he was too busy. I asked if he could take down her number and call her the following day. He sighed into the phone saying, "Well, you know, I write down numbers and then I don't know what they're for the next day." It's called a notepad and a pen, you ***! You write down the number, the person's name and a brief message about why they called to prompt you!  

 

This manager sounded high the entire time I was talking to him and couldn't be bothered. He had the nerve to say how "he couldn't believe I was being rude to him when he called me back and helped me out" (I never raised my voice, by the way. I was just very stern)! He has done NOTHING but prove that he's a tool who doesn't know his rear end from his elbow. 

 

If anyone has information about a customer service line or executive office number I can call, I'd appreciate it more than you know. I can't seem to find one online, leaving me to believe that WOW is even more sketchy than I first thought.
