Workout World increased monthly fees by 100% with no warning!

Work Out World complaint

Workout World of Ocean, NJ offered a special $23.75 rate during the Summer of 2007. Great Deal; many of my friends joined. A year later, I open my AMEX statement to see that the rate jumped to $50.00 per month.

There was no advance warning. Nothing mentioned at the time any of us joined. I know 4 people that joined during this promotion.

The quintessential health club rip-off ! Very poor business practice.

Buyer be Aware... If we had known the special rate was only for a year, we still would have joined... Instead, they automatically started charging us this doubled rate without any advance notice.

Yes, they charge a $35 annual maintenance fee. That could be the reason why the bill was so high.

Are you sure that they increased your rate? My bill reflected an increase this month when I called they told me it is a one time annual fee since I did not get a service contract and that my normal rate will be billed for the remainder of the year.
